As you’re now probably at the stage of compiling your data for your accountant to submit a tax return, it’s the perfect time to get in touch, especially if you find yourself struggling with the process.

Why do you need to complete a Self-Assessment Tax Return?

The most common reasons that a tax return is required is if you are self-employed. You will also need to submit a self-assessment if any of the following apply:

• You are a company director
• You have large amounts of savings or investment income
• You have untaxed savings or investment income
• You own land or property that is being let
• Your household receives Child Benefit and you have income over £50,000
• You have income from overseas
• You have sold or given an asset away (such as a holiday home or some shares)
• You’ve lived or worked abroad or aren’t domiciled in the UK

If you’ve never submitted a tax return before, you will need to register for Self-Assessment by 5^th October 2021

Tax Returns must be submitted by midnight 31 October 2021 if filing a paper tax return or by midnight 31 January 2022 if filing online. All tax owed must be paid by midnight 31 January 2022.
